So I got to play Resident Evil 7 biohazard today…
I got to say that I was impressed with the first few hours of game play although it starts out a little slow. The pace picks up quickly as you arrive at an old abandoned house in bayou’s of Louisiana.
The reason why you trespass on this old creepy ass property is because your wife that’s been missing for 3 years decides to contact you out of the blue and leads you here.
When you arrive the gate is chained shut and there is no answer after ringing the buzzer. So like any normal person you start looking for another way in… Just kidding a normal person would’ve just called the cops.
Oh look a gate made out of animal parts this must be the way…
As I make my way passed the abandon van I see someone walking out of the corner of my eye. I know better so I crouch before I try and follow but I quickly lose him.
If I replay this game I’ll definitely sprint over to him next time just to see what happens.
I continue to walk through the swampy marsh when I see a fence made out of the hind legs of an animal that I can’t identify. Then some birds scare the crap out of me, I crouch under the animal parts and decided to pick up the pace a bit.
The hell with contacting the authorities, I’m going in!!!
I found a purse with my wife’s ID in it. Well now I have to go inside to see if she’s in the house right?
Armed with nothing but a flashlight I slowly make my way into the dilapidated home. At this point I’m expecting something to jump out and scare the shit out of me but that doesn’t happen just yet. I nervously search every drawer in that nasty ass kitchen and continue through to the hallway.
Looking around I find a family picture on the mantle of the fireplace “must be the owners”. Static from the TV flickers in the corner as I head back down the hallway to go check the room upstairs.
Sweet a video tape now we’re getting somewhere.
Finally a clue to where my wife may be? Wrong!
It’s a video tape with the same name as the one I saw in the abandon van earlier. Now I’m excited to see what’s on the tape. So I run down the stairs (still expecting something to jump out at me) and go back into the room with the TV in it.
I pop in the tape and wait eagerly while the screen finishes loading.
When reality TV goes wrong.
The Video is actually playable rather than just being a cinematic clip.
You’re now the camera man in what seems to be a pilot for a Ghost Busters or Unsolved Mysteries type show. It’s you, the host and the producer of the show visiting this haunted house.
You guys make your way into the house by breaking an entry as the producer kicks in the door to the kitchen you were just in. Some dialog about the family that use to live here is exchanged while the three of you look through the kitchen.
Then out of nowhere a noise and the producer is missing. The host begins to frantically look for him and you follow him into the room where the fireplace and TV are. The host discovers a secret passage with a ladder that leads to the flooded basement. The cowardly host sends you down first…..
I really liked how this was the way they set up the hints and what-to-do’s. It didn’t take away from the suspense in fact I felt like it added to it.
So that was the first 30 minutes of gameplay…
This was covered the Beginning Hour demo, but none the less this was my take on it hope you enjoyed the read!
So far I’m really enjoying the gameplay I honestly felt like I was the victim in a horror movie. I can only imagine how much scarier it would be if I had a virtual reality rig.
Have fun playing and leave some comments below… and make sure to keep the lights on!!!
