“Dave does a great job of getting to know the players individually as well as their strengths and weaknesses. Once the players feel comfortable with Dave, progress in making changes to their shot is immediate.”

-Nate Tibbetts, Portland Trail Blazers Assistant Coach

Founded in 2001 by Dave Love, the concept originated as an effort to provide high quality coaching to young basketball players aspiring to improve their shooting ability. Since that time, The Love of the Game has evolved into a highly respected basketball program and popular place for players to hone their skills.

We offer various programs for players of all ages and skill levels. We offer clinics, programs and summer camps for youth, and continue to attract top college and university players interested in personal shooting tutelage.

Our methodology emphasizes simplicity while educating players how each part of the body affects the shooting process, and attempts to instill a simple shooting technique that can be easily repeated. Shooting a basketball is fundamentally about muscle memory, and therefore our teachings are focused on retraining the muscles and building good shooting habits.

“I hired Dave as a shooting coach for the 2009-10 season with the Phoenix Suns, with the goal to rework Louis Amundson’s shot. Dave did a fantastic job, both from a technical standpoint and a personal one. He helped Louis develop a solid, repeating stroke on his jump shot and free throw that resulted in dramatic statistical improvements.”

-Steve Kerr, Golden State Warriors Head Coach

“In less than three months Dave was able to reconstruct my shot and help me unlearn over seven years of improper habits. The increase in consistency and accuracy in my shot is remarkable. Not only is he great at what he does but he genuinely cares about each of his students and that is what makes it a pleasure to work with him.”
